Q.What is the mission of the Global Health Initiative?
A.The Global Health Initiative at the University of Utah promotes health and medical development leading to measurable improvements among populations around the world. Using research and scholarship as a foundation, we engage in mutually beneficial partnerships that focus on collaboration and sustainable outcomes that transcend local culture, political philosophies and geographic boundaries.

Q.How long has the University of Utah been involved in GHI programs?
A.Since 1998.
Q.What is the relationship between the Global Health Initiative and other University of Utah International programs?
A.The Global Health Initiative is the health and medical component of the international efforts at the University of Utah. Success of the Global Health Initiative is paving the way for establishing the University of Utah Global Health Institute, which is anticipated to be in place in early 2011.
Q.With so many problems at home, why shouldn't I support Utah first?
A.You are supporting Utah. These programs are helping Utah students and faculty expand their world-view and learn new ways of delivering health services. The knowledge, understanding and respect gained from working alongside people of different traditions and beliefs are transforming values in both cultures.

Q.How Does supporting your infrastructure benefit children in Poverty?
A.Our infrastructure allows us to implement programs that help break the cycle of poverty through creating long-term sustainable change versus an immediate, but temporary, hand-out.
Q.How can I contribute?
A.One time lump-sum, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually. Donate Now.
Q.Are my contributions tax-deductible?
A.Qualifying gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law, under the University of Utah's 501(c)(3) tax status.
Q.May I contribute to a specific country?
A.Yes – just specify the country in the comments section when you make the contribution. You may designate any or all of the countries where the GHI operate
Q.Can I sponsor a specific program or person, such as Nursing, a specific physician or a specific medical student?
A.Your gift can support a specific medical program or specialty but tax laws prevent you from specifying the recipient of a scholarship or grant.
Q.I am not a student. How can I get personally involved?
A.Please contact us and we can talk about various ways you can be involved.
