Today

GHI programs are addressing issues such as

New school built in Ghana
  • Malaria: early identification and treatment
  • Water: supply and treatment
  • Rotavirus: transmission
  • Sanitation: infrastructure development
  • Schistosoma research
  • Education: community initiated school buildings, innovative training and programs and expanding adult literacy
  • Poverty: enterprise credit, community cooperatives, entrepreneurialism

In Ghana alone, the GHI is

  • Helping more than 25,000 men women and children in Ghana and other locations worldwide, live happier healthier lives
  • Creating a new model for assistance through collaboration
  • Teaching medical content, which has reduced the “brain-drain” from Ghana, meaning that more doctors and health professionals are staying in Ghana and sharing their knowledge with local teachers and practitioners leading to greater self reliance and better care

A Comprehensive Program

With programs in place in areas such as Anesthesiology, Neurology, Social Work, Pathology and Physician Assistant training, Ghanaian medical staff are receiving advanced professional teaching in Ghana, and Utah medical practitioners are gaining an appreciation for the real world issues of delivering medical care in Sub-Saharan Africa.
